Stars of the Future. Congratulations to Duncan Welsh of Westbroad. He took 1st prize in four of the classes with each of his prize-winners being by a Shawhill bull - Shawhill J-A-T or Shawhill Leroy. The day's overall Shorthorn Champion was the very smart Westbroad Paddy, out of Westbroad Abbie and sired by our 12,000gns. Our top sale at the Skipton Show and Sale was Shawhill Dewdrop Phoenix, lot 71 which went at 3,650 guineas to E, M. & H.D. Roberts, Llithfaen, Pwllheli; we wish them and our other purchasers every success.

Carlisle Agri-Expo seemed to be a great success with a tremendous interest in the Beef Shorthorn section. Our only entry, Shawhill Dewdrop Phantasia (by Burnside Elite out of Shawhill Dewdrop Futurama) took 2nd in her class to the ultimate champion, the stylish white Runleymill Roxburgh Lass Pam. Congratulations to the Runleymill team.

We have three good roan heifers going to the Society Sale at Skipton on Wednesday 10th November. Shawhill Foxglove Priscilla, Shawhill Dewdrop Phoenix and Shawhill Lady Phoebe. All are out of high achieving cow families, the first two being by the 20,000gns. Fearn Godfather and the latter by the high index Shawhill Maestro. Pre-sale inspection is welcome.

At the Shorthorn Society Sale at Longtown on Bank Holiday Monday, our heifer, Shawhill Augusta Petal took the heifer reserve championship. By Cairnsmore Landmark she sold for 2,100gns. to Messrs Gibson Kirkbymoorside.

JUNE 2021 - 1
At the June Native Breed sale at Longtown Mart, our entries topped at 2,700gns for the 2017 cow, Shawhill Lillian by Burnside Elite. With a bull calf at foot, she sold to Messrs Morton Lochend who also took Shawhill Lively for 2,000gns.
APRIL 2021 - 1
We will have a small production draft sale of Pedigree Beef Shorthorns at Longtown Mart on Tuesday 8th June comprising in-calf and bulling heifers and a few selected cows with calves at foot. Further details shortly and further entries are invited for this sale which will be live in the mart and with online bidding available through marteye.ie.

We were pleased with our Shorthorn bull trade at Stirling; Noble, the white bull, sold for 3,000gns. and Norseman for 4,500gns. Both successful bids were on-line, which is a sign of the times, and both to the same buyer to whom we wish every success.

He has good figures, +51 for 600 day weight, self-replacing EBV of 43 with maternal index of 28.

He has excellent figures, +65 for 600 day weight, self-replacing EBV of 55 with maternal index of 30.
