OCTOBER 2022 - 1

Congratulations to Brenda Wear for her championship at the Borderway Agri-Expo. As usual a massive event and very well organised.

Shawhill Rodney

Our October 2021 bull, Shawhill Rodney took 1st in his class. He is an ET calf by Winalot Rodney out of Glenisla Eva Broadhooks E862. We also took a 3rd in a strong heifer class with Shawhill Dewdrop Starburst, a Glenisla Keystone daughter from the all-Canadian Shawhill Dewdrop Futurama.

AUGUST 2022 - 4

At the Beef Shorthorn Society Summer Sale at Longtown, the top price was a cow, Beautry Dewdrop Nightingale with calf at foot which sold for 4,200gns. Consigned by S. C. Currie, this cow was by a Shawhill bred embryo transfer dam, Shawhill Dewdrop Fairlady by K-KIm Freedom and a full sister to cows still in our herd and to the bull, Shawhill Freedom.

In the heifer show at the sale, we took the championship with Shawhill Foxglove Priscilla by Fearn Godfather. She sold for 2,400gns to Messrs Guild, Laight, Cumnock.

A good entry from five exhibitors at Moffat Show. Our cow, Shawhill Foxglove Layla with her bull calf at foot took the championship. Shawhill Radar, our young white bull stood 1st in his class.

AUGUST 2022 - 2

We have two pedigree Beef Shorthorn in-calf heifers going to the Society Sale at Longtown on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August, where there is a an entry of over 70 females plus 30 calves at foot.

Our cattle are lots 1 and 2. Lot 1 is the poll Shawhill Foxglove Nancy by the very successful all-Canadian Shawhill Freedom and in-calf to Glenisla Keystone. Lot 2 is the poll Shawhill Foxglove Priscilla by the 20,000gns Fearn Godfather and in calf to Burnside Elite. Elite was top price bull at Stirling in his day and his progeny have had a number of significant recent show successes.

AUGUST 2022 - 1

Dumfries Show, after missing a couple of years. Our cow Shawhill Foxglove Layla, by Shawhill J-A-T with a Glenisla Keystone bull calf at foot took the reserve championship. Congratulations to Messrs Wyllie for their excellent yearling heifer which was champion. Our young white bull, Shawhill Radar took a 1st, as did our pairs entry.

JULY 2022 - 1

An excellent and enjoyable visit to Newlands by the World Shorthorn Conference tour marking the 200th anniversary of Coates' Herd Book. Representatives from Canada, Uruguay, Australia, USA and elsewhere.

The cattle looked well and the weather marvellous, and we had tidied up for the occasion (!) with the garden much admired; they certainly seemed to be enjoying their trip and we followed up with lunch at Powfoot before the party went on to Chapelton.
